Pre-Conference • September 9, 2019 | Conference •September 10-11, 2019
Our annual conference brings together teachers, parents, and school administrators from across the state to focus on what’s working in Kentucky schools.
We are excited to announce that Trevor Ragan, founder of Train Ugly will be our keynote speaker for the 2019 Conference. Trevor will also host a pre-conference session on September 9 and breakout sessions on Sept 10.
Through his journey, Trevor has worked with best-selling authors, olympic coaches, professional athletes, renowned professors, and thousands of coaches, teachers, students, and players from all over the world.
Those experiences have helped him discover some incredibly important research in the fields of motor learning, performance science, and psychology that offer new insight on ways train and develop students, athletes, and people in general.
But how can he inspire you?
Understand the science of how to become a better learner.
Believe in yourself. You are a learning machine.
With time and hard work you can get better at anything.
Try new things. Take risks. Make mistakes. Fall down. Ask questions.
Embrace the pressure. Feel the fear, and dare greatly.
Let it rip. Speak up. Bust out of your comfort zone.
Always remember that getting better is not pretty. That you are going to be bad first. That growth comes from struggle. That skills are built, not born — and they are yours if you earn them, period.
Seek out challenges. Appreciate obstacles. Learn like a scientist. Don’t eat the mallow.
Love the journey.
"You had everyone talking and those were conversations that needed to be started long ago. I also love how you got everyone thinking about how they can be better at every aspect of their life. My head was just buzzing when I left and it still is (tbh) I love how passionate you are about learning and making things happen. You are also a very genuine person. I wish you could’ve heard the comments I was hearing all day — nothing but top notch.” —Train Ugly Conference attendee
“I learned more today from your presentation than I have learned from any other inservice, coaching clinic, or lecture in the last 25 years combined.” — Session attendee
“What an exceptional day this was full of new insights, valuable exchange of ideas, groundbreaking learning concepts, and practical takeaways from Trevor Ragan, who came to the World Bank today to talk about how to use growth mindset to shape our learning culture." — Mathias Weskamp: The World Bank
